Welcome to the list Sudha! You wrote [[i am looking for an online edition of the Devi Gita.]] ** Here is an online link: http://srimadbhagavatam.org/ And a commentary: http://www.indiadivine.com/tattva16.htm And just in case you do not know .. the Devi Gita is part of the /Srimad Devi Bhagavatam/. More specifically, chapters 29 - 40. Om Shanti ... Yogini Shakti
Guest guest
Om Kali Yogini Shakthiji, Yes ,http://www.web-alive.com/dm/html/devi_gita.HTM is related to Devi Mandir ..However http://srimadbhagavatam.org/ and http://www.indiadivine.com/tattva16.htm would not be of much help. They are both reffering to Vaishnava Srimad Bhagavatham which at Chapter 40 talks about immolation of Ma Sati .In Vaishnava text there is no Devi Gita but only Srimad Bhagavad Gita .(correct me if i am wrong) There us a diffrence between Srimad Bhagavatham and Srimad Devi Bhagavatham. The Shakthas appropriately refers to Srimad Devi Bhagavatham and Devi Gita actually takes place here when Divine Mother wants to to take birth at Himalaya house to awaken Lord Shiva from his tapasya to secure his bleessing for a son to overcome Tarakasura .The gist of Devi Gita arise when Himalaya shocked of the idea of Maa taking birth in his house and ask how could he be able to serve her to the best of his abilties. The signifiance of the discussion would be onof how to manifest the Divinity within once life when we realise such Divinity actuallty is deep within us . >From Veda comes Upanishad and from Upanishad comes Gita . If Veda is the cow and Upanishad is the milk then Gita is the essence of the milk. In actuall sense Gita is not song but divine revealation in the most condensed manner that will be soothing to both heart and the mind .Gita usually would give the sub bonnum or the jist of the entire purana for the relevant followers. For your future references on Srimad Devi Bhagavatham Shakthiji could refer to the Swami Vijanananda edtion which is availbe in all english..And Devi Gita of Devi Mandir would again be a good help. Jai Kali !!!p/s: Is there any online link to Devi Gita ?Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: Click Here
