Namaskar and good wishes for auspicious Kartika celebration

I bow to Yamuna devi full of love and devotion.

Yamunaji is capable of giving all kind of achievements.

Her both banks are full of glittering sand

which is as soft as lotus feet of Shri Krshna.

Also, there are various kinds of gardens

on the both banks of the river.

Her water is full of scent

due to flowers of the garden on her banks.

Shri Yamunaji is also worshipped by

two kinds of Vraj devotees.

She is capable of giving fulfillment of all the desires

of the devotee in enjoying Divine love.

Devotees have celebrated 'Yama Dvitiya' or 'Bhaiya Dhooj',

remembering Yamuna devi and Her brother, Lord Yamaraj who is also one

of the 12 'Mahajanas', great divine personalities.

Excerpt from: 'Appreciating Sri Vrindavana Dhama'- by Mahanidhi Swami

is in the file section of group:hymns/Yamuna Devi

On this auspicious occasion, let us offer glorification and prayers

to the Consort of Lord Krishna from Sri Yamunashtakam.

This sublime prayer was composed by Sri Mahaprabhu Vallabha Acarya of

Pushti Marga, very similar to the verses of Sri Shankara

Bhagavatpada.

Here is my translation of a couple of verses of 'Sri Yamunashtakam'

of Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracarya Bhagavatpada:

kRpApArAvArAM tapanatanayAM tApazamanIM

viyajjvAlonmuktAM zriyamapi sukhApteH pratidinaM

sadA dhIro nUnaM bhajati yamunAM nityaphaladAm .. 1 ..

The beloved daughter of sun-god,

the Sweetheart of Sri Krishna,

Yamuna devi is the limitless ocean of grace,

the bestower of divinelove,

and the intense fire to burn away

the fear of transmigration.

She is the embodiment of Goddess of Opulence liberated

from the web of spiritual sky (thus appearing on earth)!

The wise souls unceasingly worship Sri Yamuna devi every day

with faith for attaining eternal bliss (Vraja Prema Bhakti).

All glories to you, Devi Yamuna! All glories to you!

O frolicker of Madhuvana, the enchanting garden!

O daughter of the ocean! O flowing river of effulgence!

O intimate companion of Gangaji, the sacred Ganges!

O charming adornment of Madhusudana , Lord Krishna!

O giver of joy and pleasure to Madhava, the Beloved of Radhika!

O shelter and storehouse of amorous pastimes of Lord Keshava!

O destroyer of all difficulties of the residents of Gokula!

O redeemer of all sinful souls of the world!

O bestower of heart's deep desire! O remover of all fears!

O vanquisher of all calamities! Please make me pure and chaste!

Jaya Sri Radhey!
