Guest guest
AUM ganeshaya namah In line with our discussion of controlling something first before surrendering it, here is an excerpt from Swami Satyanda Saraswati's book "Shree Maa: The Guru and the Goddess": "There are many techniques to get more control over yourself. If you can identify the emotion, you can repeat the bIja mantra that corresponds to the emotion. In this way you will get control of the emotion. Then you can recite the mantra of the attitude that you want to replace the emotion with. The following are some of the more common attitudes that we might want to control, followed by positive feelings with which we can replace them. There are various methods that can be employed. Some teachers teach that one should perform one mAlA of the mantra of the negative emotion, followed by a second mAlA of the positive. Other teachers instruct the combination of the mantra of the negative quality followed immediately by the mantra of the positive, as in the recitation "bhrAM shAM," watching confusion transform into peace for the duration of at least one mAlA. NEGATIVE BIJA POSITIVE BIJA confusion bhrAM peace shAM anger krauM dharma dhaM blindness aNDa forgiveness kShAM lust kAM abundance pUM darkness aM light jUM death mr^M immortality AM pain duH pleasure suM greed lobha generosity daM sorrow duH comfort suM untruth asat truth sat laziness taM energy shAM hatred griM love prema ignorance moha wisdom j~nAM restlessness caM tranquility shaM haughtiness udagra purity phaT rigidity dhr^M focused cit ego ahaM humilty laM frustration hAM surrender tyAg tamas taM devotion bhaM hunger kShuM fullness pUM scattered paM patience kShAM injury hiM pardon kShA.M doubt nishcik faith shraM temper ugra strength bala sadness duH joy AM sickness roga health svAsthya memories bAM nourishment puM my will ahaM thy will tyAga temptation durdhara harmony mela foul mouth durmukha respect shrI.M attachment mamatA freedom muM grossness sthUla subtlety raM anxiety taM caring daM vacillating asiloma stable dhr^.M meanness muNDa tenderness daM hypocrisy biM truth sat Another important technique for attaining self-control is to recite the bIja mantra of the cakra from which a negative vibration emanates. The jApa of that bIja will help to control the emotions. You will want to produce a vibration that is stronger than the vibration that is confronting you. That is the objective."
