Guest guest
Has anybody an idea where from I could get a Shakta calendar? Regards, taotegarfield
Guest guest
Hi Alexandra: As you may recall, we tried to organize such a calendar last year, but failed to generate enough interest to make it financially feasible. Printing services in India are relatively affordable, and the quality has vastly improved in the past decade. I hope to make an early start in 2003 and create a SHAKTI SADHANA GROUP CALENDAR for 2004. What we need is publicity and interest. The more people are involved, the better it can be. I'd want to make it a lunar calander superimposed over a conventional modern calendar, with all Shakta holidays highlighted and a mindblowing selection of pictures. Anyone interested in heading up a Group "calendar committee"? Let us know! DB
Guest guest
DB There are 2 lunar Pagan calendars that I enjoy. One is by Luna Press and it has the days of the lunar month in a spiral from new moon to new moon with the full moon appearing at the top of the spiral (approx 12 o'clock). There are little notations beside the moon icons indicating what time the moon moves into and out of each sign of the zodiac and other astrological notations. I couldn't live without it for the purposes of magic. Visually it places me in harmony with where the moon is at the moment and where it will be. The other one is organized more closely to a standard calendar. Though it still runs from new moon to new moon it is laid out in rows of 7 days (the standard week), the first day of the month on the first row is the new moon, the icon appearing almost as a watermark on the background of the square in which it sits, in whatever day of the week it occured. This is much like the way a standard calendar has the "1" on the first day of the first row of whenever it occurs (E.G. this month the "1" is on the Friday box of the first row of the December calendar. In each subsequent square is the white icon of the waning and waxing moon according to its phase on that day, all on a pleasant grey background. What I really like about that calendar is it is easy to make standard types of plans - (What is the closest Saturday night to such and such phase of the moon?). Also it's easier to write in the boxes ("Go to Diwali Festival 7 pm"). On the spiral calendar it's not easy to write little notes, or to be sure to which day those notes belong. I think this second kind of calendar would be more useful in general for the purposes of the group. I wish I could remember who publishes it.
