Guest guest
AUM gaNapataye namaH Legend says that the hibiscus is the favourite of Goddess Durga and Kali. The story goes that Durga comes into the world during a war between the gods and the demons. The demons are winning until the Great Goddess Durga comes onto the scene. At the peak of the fighting, she calls on her most potent aspect, Kali, who leaps from Durga's third eye and charges onto the battlefield. At this point, the hibiscus offered the red colour of its flowers to Her eyes. The hibiscus did this so that Kali could indicate her wrath through the redness of Her eyes. Pleased by the hibiscus' contribution, the Goddess granted the hibiscus a wish. The bush humbly asked to be able to serve Her forever. The Goddess therefore replied, "From now on whoever offers me your flowers will be blessed by me." And with wrathful, fierce, red eyes, Kali commences destroying the demon army. When offering a hibiscus to Mother Kali, let the red color remind you of Her fierce eyes. Let the redness call forth the fierce aspect of yourself when it comes to destroying demons -- demons that really only reside in your own mind. Jai Kali Ma! Guest guest
Hibiscus is a natural floral lingam that is why it is offered to kali as a symbol of Kundalini rising to the anahata, although that meditative comment is very inspiring and needed to increase the love and attempt to comprehend Devi. Very thankful.
