This paragraph tickled my funny bone in a way. It brings to mind another comparative analogy:- Finland has pizza-restaurants whose pizzas rival those of Italy's master pizza-makers for quality and taste. However, tourists visit Finland mainly for the excellent saunas, and NOT for the pizzas. Likewise, spiritual pilgrims go to the "Shaivite" Meenakshi Temple, nay, Madurai itself, primarily to pay homage to DEVI, not Shiva. My dear Ishta - the first pro-feminist alpha-male. Aum namah Shivaya nb: the pizza-and-sauna analogy can be stretched further. Like pizza, Lord Shiva is full and complete in Himself, but Devi is the one who reaches out to envelop the sadhaka in her hot, protective, rejuvenative sauna-like embrace. :^)
