Dear Nora,

The 'Goddesses of the Internet' have produced a recent webpage on

Saptashrungi. Of course with many words that make they way through

the medium of language you must do the search with many alternate

spellings.

http://www.saptashrungi.info/..%5Cdefault.htm

So here is the web page for the Mandir. Parts of the webpage are

still under construction but the image gallery is great.

Prior to 1992 there was no road to the Temple. The best way in was

the 10km. trek. Having taken the local transport "up the hill"

perhaps the best way is still the 10km. trek.

The 'originally murti' manifest in the face of the cliff. The Temple

murti which is 8' high covers that of the original. There are 452

steps to the Temple. Traditionally after darshan you do pradakshima

around the top of the mountain (barefoot of course) which is about 2

miles on a rocky trail. Some will do this 3x.

It is a very isolated area and even now with the road there are

relatively few visitors except during the festivals. For a

Westernerer traveling in India it is a place away from the crowds with

friendly local population and a wonderful Devi.f
