prayers for the Solstice

I wish everyone from every land and from every

religious tradition a happy and holy Solstice. Here

are a few prayers in honor of the event, from a book

We rejoice in the radiance of the turning season

As we kindle out flame.

Light is a symbol of creation,

And of hope,

Of law and justice,

Of warmth and unity.

It is a symbol of remembrance.

 

When the deepening shadows and cold of winter come,

Let us remember how we walked

In autumn's bounty and colorful glory.

Let us gather in the warmth and light

We kindle in our hearts and lives,

To last the winter through.

 

We rejoice in the winter light,

Warming and heartening the Earth.

We rejoice in the light of the mind

Which makes plain the path before us.

we rejoice in the light of the heart

Which makes all our pilgrimages one.

We rejoice in all thy gifts

Which brighten the world and our lives.
