If you mean carrying the milk pot and walking on the fire, no I did

not.

They called it Fire walking or Thimithi. Devotees walk on fire in

honour of Goddess's Drupadi's courage and in a true test of their

faith. Not only that, the devotees walk on fire as a vow and also as

thankgivings to the goddess for helping them to solve their problems,

cure from disease etc.

I spoke to a devotee who have underwent Thimithi many times, he told

me what he actually see is not hot coal or fire, but a Red Beautiful

Saree spread out before him.

To get more information about this practice :

http://www.indiaprofile.com/religion-culture/firewalk.htm.

In Singapore, Thimithi Festival is an annual event, held at Shri

Mariamman Temple, usually one week before Deepavali.

Firewalking is an ancient practice. Not only prevailing amongst the

south Indians, but also from other cultures. Even Buddhist too have

their own fire walking ceremony.

Like yourself I hope someday I will be able to visit the temples in

South india.

Who knows, DEVI's will we might meet there. Anything is possible

right?

Love to you always

Nora
