Guest guest
First, let me wish all of you a very happy New Year! Our ompremji writes... " In the deep, dreamless sleep, one rests with Brahman. In the waking state, one rests with Brahman only after rising beyond Maya. All else is illusion whether waking or sleeping." may i please share a story with you all ? There was a farmer who lived in the countryside. He was a real jnani. (a wise man) He had a son named HARU. ONE DAY, WHEN THE FARMER was working in the fields a neighbour came and Told the farmer that his son haru had an atack of cholera-but, in spite of all the best medical treatment, haru died. The farmer's wife was grief stricken at the death of her only child, the apple of her eye -the friends and family mourned but the farmer remained calm as if nothing happened- he consoled all those who were grieving to stop lamenting the loss of haru, HIS SON. The farmer's wife was enraged at he husband's callousness and said-" how heartless you are! you have not shed a single tear for your only child who is no more!"- The farmer replied- " dear, i had a strange dream last night-i dreamt i was a king - i became a father of eight sons and was very happy with them-Then i woke up to find that i was not a mighty king and i have no eight sons- now tell me, dear, should i weep for those eight sons or this one HARU?" THE FATHER WAS A JNANI who realized that the waking state is as unrealas the dream state-there is only one eternal substance-THE ATMAN. THE JNANIS regard everything as illusory. like a dream but the bhaktas accept all the states- from the gospel of sri RAMAKRISHNA ********************************************************************** HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!
