Guest guest
Hey maryann, IMO this is totally untrue, everyone has siva and shakti within themselves, so marriage is not for that. men naturally have awareness in the PINGALA nadi(aggressive current) and women naturally have awareness in the IDA nadi( the current of feeling), in a sanctified marriage, where the husband and wife have true love towards each other, this naturally lets them bypass the IDA and PINGALA nadi and go into SUSHUMNA- which is what yoga is all about, to into sushumna, this is the truest purpose of marriage. most people cannot go into sushumna by themself so marriage is prescribed for them. when the wife and husband are in thought, deed and action with each other, thinking carnally of no other outsider, there is no greater yajna than this, this is equivalent to chastity practiced by a mendicant. all yagnas done when the awareness is in sushumna give considerably more results. this why the agnihotri has to have a wife to do the yagnas. aum namasivaya yogaman the necessity of marriage? It may be a preference, and desirable by many, but is that because the man Shiva needs the woman Shakti? I thought the awareness of the wholeness of our own being as it is is what enlightenment is.
