Meaning:

Poison (fault) arose hooded snake worn as the belt,

accompanied by the girl of the king of mountains,

riding a combative bull, saying, "Sweet worded ones !

alms." - that Reverend One's abode is thiruvaiyARu

where raising up in the ocean, hit by the tides,

coming along the kAviri, resting over the night,

getting up on the dais (high land) the spiral conch

gives birth there to rich pearl.

 

Notes:

1. The poet sees a pearl in the sand heap of the river

kAviri. He thinks, "The pearls would be found in the

ocean, but how did it come in to kAviri river ?".

There

comes the story of that pearl in the rich

visualization

of this young poet !

2. viDal - fault / poison; arai - hip; veRpu - mount;

araiyan - king; pAvai - girl; aDal - powerful /

combative; pali - alms (begging); aDikaL - reverend;

thirai - waves; kaN^gul - night.
