Guest guest
Hi Omprem > It seems to me that you are taking an entirely too rational > approach to spiritual development. I practice the physical and emotional aspects as well. Just because I have been asking about the intellectual understanding that you have of spirituality, does not mean I am not interested or understand the deeper complexity of our human incarnation. I am glad that you do, however. > Here is a comment from Jacob Boehme, 17th century German > Lutheran mystic, in his 'Of the Supersensual Life': > > "Knowing the Mind of God > > The Disciple said to his Master: How may I come to the > super-sensual life, that I may see God and hear Him speak? > > His Master said: When thou canst throw thyself but for a moment > into that where no creature dwelleth, then thou hearest what > God speaketh. .... > Blessed art thou therefore if that thou canst stand still > from self-thinking and self- willing, and canst stop the wheel of > imagination and senses... Since it is naught indeed but thine > own hearing and willing that do wonder thee, so that thou dost > not see and hear God" Thank you for this extract, it is a great description of the experiences gained from Zen meditative practice, and I hadn't read it before. Being both German and Lutheran, I shall look forward to reading this in the original. > You asked, "Why do you think these work to invite Grace into our > lives? So the chakras are seen as key points of connection of the physical manifestation to the divine? What is Sadhana? A particular type of meditation, or is it the Hindu word for meditation in general? How do our actions in daily life affect this awareness of our emanation from the divine? My understanding would be that the divine, expressing itself, would act in a certain way and that acts contrary to that produce an energy resonance that causes something akin to an interference pattern with the spiritual information from the chakras. In Western mysticism this is expressed in various ways, such as Augustine's "Love God, ..." [attune yourself to the divine energy] "... and do what you will." [anything you do is then good and productive while you are attuned to the divine]; or the Thelema creed of "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law ..." [where the Will is your divine purpose, or the energy that wishes to naturally emanate through you and that you need to work to open yourself to] "... Love is the law, love under will." [interpreted as meaning that the underlying divine purpose of the physical realm is Love.]; or much more simply by Joseph Campbell's "Follow thy Bliss." [where Bliss is the feeling of joy you get when you are doing that which you should be doing.] What is your background in Shaktism? Are you Indian as is indicated by your name 'Omprem'? Thank you for your serious and 'peer' style answer to my questions. It is a much more pleasant tone than when you are lecturing :-) Blessing in Love and Light, Ralf
