Guest guest
So lets talk about 'our Goddess of the Week'. I would like to here from some of our Indian (especially from the South) members and learn a little more about Harihar. Is there a relation between Harihar and Ardhanari. And also perhaps contribute some knowledge of Ayyappa and Harihar. This is a very interesting Goddess and it seems as though she is going through the week unnoticed. DB has done a great piece on the Group Homepage. f
Guest guest
Namaste Frank! Thank you for raising the subject of Ardhanari. One thing I wish we could do better in this Group is making each week's spotlighted Devi a central (tho' not exclusive, of course!) thread in our Group conversations. Sometimes this happens spontaneously, but more often not. Anyway, re: Ardhanari, I've collected what I know of Her in the article that you so kindly mention (http://www.shaktisadhana.org/shivanshakti2.html). But beyond that, She remains a mystery to me, and I would join you in inviting any members with more information to share it with us all! In the meantime, I am trying to track down a 1996 article on the Ardhanari cult by Raju Kalidos, entitled "The Twain-Face of Ardhanari." I've seen tantalizing excerpts quoted elsewhere, but have yet to read the whole thing. I have tried to contact both author and publisher (a small European religious journal) for a copy, but without luck. A Canadian scholar recently mentioned that she has a copy, and I am hoping she'll be able to send a copy of her copy by snail mail. I'll let you know, of course, if that pans out. In the meantime, I must again turn to the Group's collective wisdom if we are to learn any more ...
