Decorated with the crescent moon and with skulls around his hair. This ascetic character of Shiva is emphasized by the dog which being the most inauspicious animal, is usually associated with the wandering mendicant Bhairava. 2 ] Shiva also as Bhairava, holding a skull cap ( kapala) in his right hand, accompanied by his two dogs. 3 ] This picture shows Shiva as Bhairava a wondering ascetic accompanied by his dog.
