Guest guest
I don't know much about Varahi from the Hindu standpoint, but I could say a bit on Vajravarahi, the Tibetan Buddhist Queen of the Dakinis. Vajravarahi's dhyana is like this: Her color is red one red wrathful face, three eyes, on her crown is a grunting blue sow's head looking off to the right, her red ochre hair hangs down and floats upwards like blown by a wind, two hands, in the left is a skull full of blood and in the right is a flaying knife, khatvamga in the nook of her left armpit, the khatvamka has six bone ornaments, mirror, and ringing bell, her left leg is extended, right retracted with right heel against the bhaga, she stands on a corpse in the depths of a blazing volcano. Vajravarahi is the Queen of Dakinis, and the destructress of ignorance. Her red color represents the red Bodhicitta which streams from the head chakras in nirvana. She has the third eye of nondual cognition, the grunting sow's head is the trace of samskara only, the khatvamga is the consort and also the spine. The pose shows control of sexual energies, the bone ornaments are the remnants of personality which no longer control one but are merely for joy. Vajravarahi is also identified with at least two other main deities in TB - Yeshe Tsogel, and Vajradakini. Yeshe Tsogel is Guru Padmasambhava's consort and is credited with hiding the treasures of Tibetan Buddhism and thus preserving it for the present times. She is also called, "The Queen of Great Bliss."
