Guest guest
Hi, A light beam is invisible unless it strikes something that reflects it. Consciousness (the light beam) perceives itself by reflecting itself from the manifestation, which is also itself. Consciousness sees its own light reflected from itself and is thereby aware of itself. --------- What we are looking for, is what is looking. ---------- The bamboo shadows are sweeping the stairs, but no dust is stirred. The moonlight penetrates the depth of the pool, but no trace is left in the water --------------- It is the instinct of exploration, the love of the unknown, that brings me into existence. It is in the nature of being to see adventure in becoming, as it is in the very nature of becoming to seek peace in being. This alteration of being and becoming is inevitable. But my home is beyond -------------- You see yourself in the world. I see the world in myself. To you, you get born and die. To me, the world appears and disappears. ------------------- When out on a picnic, the Master said, "Do you want to know what the Enlightened is like? Look at those birds flying over the lake." While everyone watched, the Master exclaimed: "They cast a reflection on the water that they have no awareness of - and the lake has no attachment to." ----- To a disciple who strained after Enlightenment till he became physically weak the Master said, "A ray of light can be grasped -- but not with your hands. Enlightenment can occur -- but not by your efforts." The puzzled disciple said, "But did you not tell me to strive to become empty? That is what I am attempting to do." "So now you are full of effort to be empty!" said the Master through his laughter. -------------- We do not possess an ego. We are possessed by the idea of one. There seem to two kinds of searchers: those who seek to make their ego something other than it is, i.e. holy, happy, unselfish (as though you could make a fish---> unfish). And those who understand that all such attempts are just gesticulation and play-acting, that the very disidentification with the ego, the very realizing of its unreality, and the becoming aware of the eternal identity with pure being cannot be achieved by an personal entity. For that is like attempting to pull oneself up by one's bootstraps. You are the very weight, you are trying to lift. Is it ever going to be possible? ----------------- "The answer to life's problems is to first see "who" has them!" ----------------- Water without losing it's nature, enjoying the beauty of waves thereon. ---------- -It is Shakti who gave Shiva his very existence and status, the form and name through the manifestation of the universe. It was as if Shakti felt ashamed that her husband, inspite of all his potentiality should remain formless, nameless and so decided that he needed such ornamentations. -Thou are not satisfied until thee totally demolish the identity of a disciple , so that he should not have even the satisfaction of having merged with Thee. -A horse whether it is awake or asleep, is always on its legs. In view of the unchanging posture, the two states do not appear to be different. Similarly the appearance and disappearance of phenomenality occurs without any change in the noumenal unicity.
