Guest guest
I tried to reply to this but it didn't seem to go through.... Yes! it happens sometimes. But at least you get it this time, thank goodness. Nora, where did you get this list? It is in the SriMad Devi Bhagavatam What does Gayatri mean? The word gayatri can be used in different sense, namely 1. Gayaatri as a mantras and metre 2. Gayatri as the Devi Gayatri as Devi : We have Gayatri Devi in our discussion board sometime back Message 3273 : Our Devi of the week Message 3274 : Gayatri Mantra Message 3280 : Gayatri : A prayer Message 3284 & 3288 : Gayatri as Ive been told These are some of messages I can retrive. Just click on the archives, it will gives you the old messages on Gayatri. Another approach to Gayatri is as the cosmic mother. See homepage on Gayaatri : http://www.shaktisadhana.org/Gayathri.html Gayaatri as a Mantras Mantra is a powerful word or a combination of words. The highest meaning of Mantra is that word which takes the man who sincerely chants it across the ocean of rebirth. Mantras is : a. An incantation which, when uttered with correct intonation, yields results through the forces of nature or deities one propitiates, whose hymns one utters or chants. b. Is a word power which could be used for spiritual realization or material desires. It can be used for ones welfare or destructions. In short its like an atomic energy. It is a power, acting according to the devotion of the man who uses it. We are all familiar with the famous Gayatri Mantras. Each Goddess and Gods have their own Gayatri Mantras. Durga Gayatri : OM Mahadevyai ca vidmahe durgadevyai ca dhimahi tanno devi pracodyat Kali Gayatri : Om Mahakalyai ca vidmahe smasana vasinyai ca dhimahi tanno kali pracodyat. And blessings on the Vernal Equinox...the Green Goddess arises. (I bought seeds for my garden today!) Very nice indeed.
