Guest guest
Thank you megalith6 Sorry couldnt respond to your earlier. I got the translation of the lalitha with regards to their reference to 'Star' and 'Venus' and thought that it is rather interesting. Maybe its time for me to ask our Sanskrit expert here in this group. About Venus, I was told that Venus is sometimes known as the twin star, probably because she is best known as the morning and the evening star. Her lustre outshines any other heavenly body except the sun and the moon. Ishtar was also sometimes thought of as Male when in the morning star, and female when the evening star. So, presumably 'tara' can translate as both 'star' and 'Venus'? > About Venus, I was told that Venus is sometimes known as the > twin star, probably because she is best known as the morning and the > evening star. Yes, I sometimes wonder if, what is meant is that, Ishtar in a 'masculine aspect' of warrior, pertains to her appearance as the Morning Star, in this instance? There is an ancient cylinder seal, Akkad period, c. 2334-2154 BCE, showing Ishtar with her foot on a rampant lion - which graphically illustrates her fierce aspect - as well as evoking the imagery of beloved Durga. Namaste, m6
