Mantra - better

With reference to the apparent disturbance caused in other sadhakas'

state of mind whenever outsiders enquire about mantras: it reflects

their keenness to keep the mantra tradition safe from the

experimental hands of the uninitiated. I think this attitude is

admirable, and should be maintained for the more specialized sakti

mantras.

 

However I have personal knowledge of a few cases where the lack

of "proper" initiation nevertheless produced results. An aunt of

mine was in monetary distress two years ago and started doing a

Lakshmi mantra devoutly. Exactly on the 40th day of her sadhana a

miraculous event happened, and her troubles were solved. (No, she

did not win the lottery). Even I was astounded by this miracle.

Proof perhaps that sometimes *sincere devotion* supercedes the lack

of initation. After all God did say that he dwells within the hearts

of every creature (of all races) and is the silent witness of their

every deed.

 

Someday I might as well start a simple English bija-mantra like "Joy

Joy Love Joy Luck Luck Want Luck Now" and who knows it may just work

very well too, with God's grace.
