In several Iconography of DEVI, She is seen holding a mirror. Just as

I have been fascinated with Tara and her Scissors, Parvati's

Darpana

caught my attention.

What is the symbolic nature of Mirror?

When Looking into a mirror, the viewer sees a double of herself or

himself. In some ancient culture, Mirror is the representation of a

different zone, the buffer zone which gives one the ability to see

into the next life.

The Darpana does not only contain the Image but it reflects the image

back and forth. In this aspect the Darpana function as a tool that

embodies movement of the conscious mind creating a state of initial

duality and yet maintain non-duality.
