Oooh! God/dess jewelry! What deities did they carry? What was the

price range? Can you download info from the site and send it to me

offlist? (I'd ask for a link to <Veda>, but there's still no guarantee

this computer could access the site.) Oh, send the List a

link to <Veda> anyway.

Vedic astrology has means of determining your <ishtadevata> (favorite

deity). Do you know your Vedic chart? What's on your 5th house cusp,

and what planets -- if any -- are contained within that house? The Fifth

House rules what you love. (I'm an astrologer, studying both Western and

Vedic systems. Send me your birthdata, I'll interpret your <ishtadevata>

for you.)

Have you studied a particular school of martial arts?

Oh, definitly! <grin> Teamed with Sarasvati.

In portrayals of Ardhanarishvara, Shiva is always on the right, Parvati

is always on the left. It sounds like you would want a custom-made

<murti>, specifically "Ardhanareshvari" (the Lady who's half-male").

There are artisans in Nepal (the Newari people) who can do custom work,

but it's expensive...

Compare the other traditions of "half-and-half" deity images. There's

Hari-Hara, when Shiva and Vishnu merged to show that both energies are at

root the same. Shiva is still on the right (as "top"?), Vishnu is on the

left (as "bottom"?). There's also a half-Ganesha, half-Hanuman, and

Ganesha is at right, Hanuman at left (despite Hanuman's being much more

"butch" than Ganesha...).

If **I** were to get a custom-made <murti>, I think I'd like a "Hari-Hara

Shakti." The consorts of Shiva and Vishnu, merged, i.e.: Lakshmi on the

right side, Kali on the left side (so the appropriate spouses line up if

consorting with a traditional Hari-Hara).

Namaste,

Hiya,

I am just going over posts that I have not had a chance to check. This seems

very interesting with the ishtadevata. Would you be willing to find mine out as

well or know of where I could go to find this out ? Have the best day ever.
