Namaste

Group memmbers,

I visit my local ashram & Temple often. I notice that the devotees

are bringing fruit to be place on the shrine, my question is can all

people bring fruit to be place on the shrine or is this restricted to

certain devotees?

Thanks

Lee,

Thank you for your message. With regards to the offerings to DEVI,

best is to bring what you can afford : be it fruits or flowers. The

most important is what you give is sincere and honest, and comes from

your heart. You can put gold or the most expensive things as

offering, but what is the point if the offerings is meant to evoke

pride and envy. The best form of offering is when you make it a

secret : between you and DEVI.

This is my opinion that is.

I hate to say this but nothing cuts through materialism like having nothing.

One should always remember that times of no means are the best times also for

sadhana. Maybe sometimes you thought the wish that you only wanted to serve the

Lord, and then the chance came. With nothing in hand all one can do at such

times is to serve the Lord. One must always look to karma. A simple story tells

of a man praying for God's grace in the soup line for a week, and finally he is

disheartened by what he deems God's not listening and God finally answers and

says, did you not notice the extra chunk of fat in your soup yesterday?
