Guest guest
Dear Friends: I am writing a quick note to bring you up to date on what is happening at *your* Shakti Sadhana Group: HOMEPAGE DOWN FOR MAINTENANCE This is just a note to let you know that the Shakti Sadhana Homepage (http://www.shaktisadhana.org) will be down the next few days for routine maintenance. Our forum here in will continue to operate as usual. We decided to take the homepage down because it was getting sloppy. A lot of new material was added in recent months and many files were shifted around, and as a result the site was riddled with dead links, blank picture files, etc. We simply need to go through systematically and clean it up. HOMEPAGE ENHANCEMENTS ON THE HORIZON There will be no major changes to the "look" of the site at this time, but we are aware that the site is becoming too big for its current design. This fall, we'll be doubling the site's storage capacity, so that we'll be able to add more pictures, more essays and presentations, and -- if all goes as planned -- audio files of carious mantras, pujas and other Shakta materials. By next year, we should be in a position to completely revamp the site, with a new, sleeker, more-state-of-the-art look; and greatly enhanced navigability. WELCOME TO SRI AMRITANANDA NATHA SARASWATI! I recently enjoyed the honor of an extended audience with Sri Amritananda Natha Saraswati (Dr. N. Prahalada Sastry), a truly great Shakta guru and spiritual leader. Amrita (generally referred to as Guruji) is the founder of Sri Meru Nilaya, a spectacular Shakta temple in Devipuram, near Visakapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, in India. This temple, just completed in 1994, is built in the shape of the Sri Chakra, and features idols of all the 108 Devis described in the Devi Khadgamala Stotra. It is unique in allowing devotees to perform puja to the Devi themselves, without distinction of caste or creed. After detailed discussions with the moderators of Shakti Sadhana, I am pleased to announce that Guruji has agreed to formally associate with our Group and Homepage, an arrangement that we hope will prove beneficial to all involved. His main concern will be to bring practical, "how to" advice to the site, to augment the mainly informational material we've published so far. With Guruji's involvement and assistance, the quality of discussion in the Group and the utility of information of the homepage should increase noticeably. As Guruji is currently traveling, it will probably be early autumn before the association becomes noticeably visible around the site. TAKING IT TO THE STREETS Shakti Sadhana's association with Amrita is part of a larger initiative to expand our Group's presence beyond the Web, and into the living, breathing community. Amrita (along with our own wonderful friend and co-moderator Kochu) will provide an extraordinary living connection to India, and the brick-and-mortar sanctuary of Devipuram. Nora's magnificent efforts in Malaysia are already well known to regular friends of the Group. And now I have the honor of announcing our newest "local" association, Saundarya Lahari, a Shakta satsang based in and around Southern New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island. Mr. Krishnajee Putcha, webmaster of the Group's online home (and designer of an upcoming Devipuram website for Guruji) and I will be working together to solidify this connection in the coming months. YOU CAN HELP!!! We encourage members of Shakti Sadhana to use this forum to find local friends and connections, and arrange real-life meetings -- even two people can help forge a human connection that could blossom into a larger resource for people in your area. If you belong to an existing Shakta-oriented satsang (gathering) anywhere in the world, please drop us a note with contact information for our database (so that we can provide information for people in your area who are interested in getting ivolved, etc.). And feel free to use the Shakta Sadhana forum as your tool for arranging meetings, discussions and other Shakta-related events. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
