Namaste!

At the recent Ammachi(www.ammachi.org) retreat at San

Jose, I heard an interesting story by Swami

Poornaamritananda; I am recounting in the first person

"Usually people do not have memories of their

childhood less than 5 years but I recall somethings

right from when I was 2 years old- but the only things

I can remember are a series of particular incidents-

whenever I was left alone by my parents, a divine

being would appear before me and pat me and fondle me-

this being was attired in silken clothes and gold

ornaments; whenever this devaata patted me, I would

cry out loudly and my parents would rush to me on

hearing my wailing; at which the devata would

disappear."

"This went on for a few months and so my parents

decided to consult an astrologer- the astrologer saw

that a divine being was coming down to visit me and

but also said that this being was protecting me and

did not mean any harm; further the priest of the

famous Ettumanur temple(a famous temple in Kerala)

gave a bracelet to wear for protection; and after

wearing the bracelet, the devata came no more."

"When I turned 14 I again had a visitation from the

devata; because of this incident, I was intensly

studying all occult things; and this led me to Amma.

Meanwhile this devata was troubling me a lot."

"While residing at Amma's ashram, I saw this being

again and this time I felt totally helpless before

this devata as i became totally immobile; this

immobility lasted sometime, so decided to do something

about it. I talked to amma about this and suddenly

Amma gave a wild laugh and told me that this being was

sent by amma to keep an eye on me for 'advance

booking' and so this devata was protecting me at

amma's order; and amma then told me that this devata

will not trouble me anymore; that ended the visits

from this devata."

Swamiji concluded by saying that in the LS, the Divine

Mother is called chatu-shasti kodi yogini gaana

sevitah- she who is served by 64 crores of yoginis and

one such yogini was keeping guard over him.

Swamiji also told a story of how amma gave him the

gift of samadhi on his birthday by touching the spot

between the eyebrows- thats another story.......
