Guest guest
Dearest Simon Thank you for your message, and on behalf of the moderators, I like to extend our apologies for not responding to your message earlier. "Not knowing anything much about the Divine Mother" If you have loved the things around you especially your environment and Nature, you have already loved The Divine Mother. The Divine Mother exists in all forms, in all animals and inorganic things, the universe with all its beauties. All these diversity of form is but the infinite manifestation of the flowering beauty of the One Supreme Life. "Is there a mantra or prayer that I can recite in my heart as a form of devotion and act of loving kindness for all beings?" This is a short conversation I had with one of our moderator with regards to your question. M1: All Devi mantras M2: Which is? M1: Depending on what form and what aspect M2: There is no universal mantras but for beginners OM SHAKTI? M1: Anything is a mantra, depends on the age of the person. The beginning mantra varies. If they are very young single Beeja, older three etc. M2 : But OM itself can be a mantra right? M1 : Yes, The Ultimate M2 : So for someone who does know, OM is just as good as any mantra and OM will lead him or her to another. M1 : Yes With regards to prayers, it really comes from your heart. Just to say, "today will be a wonderful day" in your heart is itself a form of devotion. If you wakes up and full of positively and loving kindness, you are already forming a devotion to all beings. "Can anyone suggest any teachings/books about the Divine Mother which are suitable for beginners?" For me a good book for any beginner to get an overview of Shakti Sadhana is by Jadunath Sinha entitled: The cult of Divine Power: "Shakti Sadhana" Published by Pilgrims Book Pte Ltd. Another will be the Introduction to Tantra Sastra by Sir John Woodroffe. You can also browse through our database and look under books. There are 55 nos listing of recommended book. Or you can refer to Amazon Booklist for Goddess Devotees! Complied by Devi Bhakta. See the link section of the group or you can click on: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/cm/member-fil/- /AS3GWOV0IEVU0/103-8522510-8962226?desc=full. Thanks again, and I hope this helps. Do not hesitate to ask further questions.
