Guest guest
My dear Chinese friend [forgive me, but I did not notice your name], I did not interpret your previous statements as a personal attack on me or my husband. Please forgive me if it sounded as if I thought this. I had many other things to do the day that I wrote my response, so perhaps I did not choose my words carefully enough. People have many reasons for moving from one place to another, or for conquering other countries. Was England experiencing famine at the time when she decided to conquer India? No. She was a rich nation trying to become richer. Indeed, if she had been weak and poor back in England, she would not have had the money to pay an army to go to India. Such may have been the case with the Aryans 4000 years ago. This is only speculation. I have seen no evidence yes or no on this. I have found most Americans to be very open to the idea of foreigners and immigrants practicing other religions. I have had a few experience with Christians attempting to convert me, but when I say no they ususally accept this. What was the objection to your picture of Guan Ti? In my experience, most Americans would be puzzled by a depiction of a strange deity from a foreign land, but I have never seen anybody object to it. Kali is rather difficult to explain to Americans, as to their eyes she appears evil, but when I explain that she is not evil but rather protects people from evil, they politely smile and understand. More or less, they understand, or at least accept. Sister Usha Devi
