Guest guest
Thank you JosephPriya for reminding us. Navarathri falls on 26th September till 18th September (This is based on the Hindu Calendar in the Malaysia/Singapore ) "Navarathiri, a time for celebrating SAKTHI, is fast approaching. Sakthi is worshiped various parts of India and the world in various forms and methods." Our respected member chumki have written a very moving experience of herself as a young girl in Kolkata during Navarathri. The title of the article is : Girlhood Memories of Durga Puja in Kolkata" . Check it out at: http://shaktisadhana.50megs.com/Resource/essay/chumki.html Can the members mail about the ways of celebration of "Navarathiri" in their place of residence? In the Singapore and Malaysia where I am familiar with, in the DEVI temples, they celebrate it grandly, with daily poojas and the chariot procession on the 10th day of Navarathri. In some temples they reenact of the scene when Durga Kills the Mahisha, a great demon. If anyone is in KL or plan to come to Malaysia/KL during the Navarathri period (26th September till 18th September) you could join in the celebration at Temple of Fine Arts, Brickfield. They are going to have it in a grand scale with daily performance (classical dance etc) and prayers.

The date should be 26th September till October 4th. Vijaya Dasami is on 5th October.
