Guest guest
My dearest friends and Siblings, Once again, news reports inspire me to speak my opinion in the only forum available to me. I cannot read about such unspeakable evil yet remain silent. If you were to ask me to list all the crimes of which a human being is capable, and place them in order of evil, with the most sinisterly evil acts at the top, very close to the top of my list would be the crime of murdering people who are in the process of praying to the Divine. This is exactly what happened recently in the city of Najaf in Iraq. People had gathered for prayers to their God, and to listen to the words of their spiritual leader. Several dozen of them died when a car exploded nearby. News reports say that the Al Qaida organization or people very similar to them caused the explosion. I emphasize that these people who died were moslems. They were inside a mosque. The spiritual leader killed was a moslem cleric. The leaders of Al Qaida have clamied many times that they are moslems, fighting a holy jihad against the West. Many moslems have believed these words, and many in the West have believed them also. Many people here in the USA believe that the current violence around the world is a war of Islam versus the West. I hope that everyone now understands that this is a lie. Al Qaida does not represent Islam. If it did, the thought of murdering fellow moslems in the very act of praying in a mosque would be unthinkable. These people are murderers commiting acts of unjustifiable evil. They can no more easily claim that they represent Islam any more than Hitler could claim to represent Christianity. Such actions hurt every person of faith regardless of what name they use in their prayers: Jesus, Allah, Krishna, Buddha, Kali, or any other name. Violence against any faith represents violence against the Divine herself, and cannot be tolerated by any person who truly loves the Divine. I pray that the Great Mother may bring love to the hearts of all, especially those who have committed such acts of evil. May they come to see the errors of their ways. May they seek to bring peace and love to the famlies of those whom they have harmed. And may love prevail in the souls of all, today and every day. Jai Mahakali!
