Guest guest
Dearest Madan Mohan "I had writte P.S. because English is not my native language; my native language is Ukrainian and Russian." There is nothing to forgive. You are not alone. English is not a native language to quite a number of us here ( myself being one) but that shouldnt stop us from communicating. As long as we understand what you are trying to say, otherwise I am sure somebody will asked : Mohan what are you talking about, can you explain to us again please. Believe me I received not one but several nasty mails from somebody who spend time condemning my english, and say that I should go back to school. But that have not dampened my spirit in this group. We are not having an English Session here. We resort to English as the medium of instruction here because it is a widely used language. Weather we like it or not this is the fact. In some other groups they insist on only French or Tamil etc. If you try to post other then that, out you go. Occasionally somebody will post in a language other than English and I would always request them to translate it in English so that other can understand. I know some will get irritated when they see misspellings or mistakes in construction, but is that what we are here for?. So we should learn to tolerate and give encouragement to others who are trying very hard to voice their opinion.
Guest guest
The problem is that many people who often berate someone who seems to have poor grammar or spelling forgets that English isn't the only language spoken in the world. I remember being on another list and someone who obviously didn't speak fluent English got flamed for her poor grammar. Thankfully there were others who understood what was going on and defended her. Guest guest
I am American and speak English fluently, no other languages. I am so glad that there are others here from different cultures who can speak English in addition to their own language(s), and are willing to share their thoughts, information and experiences about spirituality and life. How can we single-language people learn from other cultures?? Shakti Sadhana is a great opportunity, and the internet makes it possible for us. Thank you to all of you English as a second (or third or more) language people out there!
