Lord Shiva's bull <vahana> (vehicle) can be portrayed as a muscular man

with a bull's head, often shown playing a <mridangam> drum while his

master is dancing. Once, Parvati cursed Nandi to take a human mortal

incarnation, when he became a famous dancing teacher. This human

incarnation, and his half-human form, is often called Nandikeshvara

("little Lord Nandi").
