Guest guest
I have a theory that Shiva is portrayed as boy, young man, middle-aged man, and old man, in accordance with the waxing and waning of the moon. Could that be so?
Guest guest
Hi akka_108 ... I can't reply with any precision; but I'd point out that several Shakta rituals approach Devi at various ages; others approach Her in conjunction with the phases of the moon -- for example, see the Nitya series that completely dominated our Devi of the Month honors during the entire summer season. I am sorry you've not received much discussion on your numerous queries on the fine points of Shaiva iconography, etc, but as you will notice, our primary orientation here is Shakta. So please do not take offense if your discussions of other traditions in Hinduism do not catch fire here.
