Meaning:

Our Divine of divines at the common hall of thillai,

One found at the limits of the thoughts of the

accomplished anthaNars - that Beautiful Splendor !

My Mother Who stands protecting my soul !

With the teethful fresh skull, stumbling, with Your

soft floral feet getting discomfort, if You dance

in the darkness, it is difficult to safeguard our

lives here !

 

Notes:

1. God may be as grand as to be the One beyond

even thoughts ! But the devotee (given the form of

lover here) laments, "Oh my Lovely God, why don't

You take care of Yourself ! If You are dancing alone

in the darkness, my heart breaks !"

2. pacun^thalai - fresh skull; Please also refer to

campandhar who says vaRRalODu - dry skull.

Since this lonely dance could be considered to be

at mahA samhAra time, the skull is a fresh one.

The town Erode gets its name from the name of the

God there Ira OTTicar or Ardhra kapAlIshvarar meaning

wet skull (of brahma) holding Lord.
