Guest guest
Could someone please tell me if the basic grammatical structure of Sanskrit is like English, Japanese, or Irish Gaelic? English has a Subject-Verb-Object (I ran there) word order. Japanese a Subject-Object-Verb (I there ran) word order. While Irish has a Verb-Subject-Object (ran I there) word order. thanks T&T
Guest guest
Hello T and T. Short answer: In Sanskrit subject, object and verb are distinguished by the endings of the actual words, rather than by word order. The order of words can vary without changing the meaning of the sentence very much. I may attempt a longer answer later!
