Guest guest
Esteemed shaktas, some advice, please - In my small south London mandir, Durga Puja was celebrated yesterday. I think a Havan ceremony (someone mentioned to me) was conducted throughout the day, because a copper pot filled with water, surmounted with coconut and betel leaves had been left by the temple's Shivalinga. The coconut had red splashes on it and a red cord tied around it. So my question is - which goddess-day of Navratri does Durga Puja fall upon, please? Guest guest
sorry to tell you that it is already over.. the durga pooja falls on the first three days of Navarathri as she is the annilator of our animalistic and lower instincts such as greed, lust....followed by lakshmi pooja where her divine, spiritual abundance will nourish us.,,. and last three days for Maha saraswati who would grant us divine knowledge and final liberation... , "m6" <megalith6@h...> wrote: > Esteemed shaktas, > > some advice, please - > > In my small south London mandir, Durga Puja was celebrated yesterday. > I think a Havan ceremony (someone mentioned to me) was conducted > throughout the day, because a copper pot filled with water, > surmounted with coconut and betel leaves had been left by the > temple's Shivalinga. > > The coconut had red splashes on it and a red cord tied around it. > > So my question is - which goddess-day of Navratri does Durga Puja > fall upon, please? > > Radhe Radhe, > > m6
Guest guest
Namaste, I have the feeling my mandir follows its own calendar, somewhat... I have a better solution and solve a lot of headache. Do the Durga Puja everyday and anytime. Why wait for Navarathri to do the Durga Puja. LOL. Guest guest
Namaste, Well, I guess I do, in a way - since Tara Ma is a form of Devi, and She is my Ishtdevi, for whom I do puja. However, the temple in question is of great sentimental and spiritual significance for me - I like to attend the festive occasions there... Another solution presents itself to my mind. Next year, I will follow my own Navratri in my home, whilst joining my fellow Hindus in worship, at the mandir. Thank you for your kind advice. Om Tara! m6 , "N. It does for me too when certain temples are concern. "Another solution presents itself to my mind. It is my believe that everything should start from the home first then the temple. I usually observe the first day and the last day at home. I have a friend who transform the whole pooja room into "a forest" during the navarathri. LOL. Tara Devi at Shakti Sadhana await for you too. But here is something I have been trying to learn, which coincided with blessed Navratri:- matAcha pArvati devi pitA devo maheshvaraH 'Mother is Shakti, father is Shiva...' - Shankara BhagavatpAda. I almost succeeded in writing this in Devanagari also, but my Hindi font does not possess the 'shva' character which forms 'ManeshvaraH'.
