Member Query: "Solar Plexus Chakra"?

I received an off-board query from a member today, regarding my

recent "Chakra Series." The member writes:

 

"I'm confused. I'm looking through these chakra pages and find no

page for the solar plexus chakra .... Is there no solar plexus chakra

in kundalini yoga? All the books I have say there is a solar plexus

chakra ..."

 

As far as I know, the Chakras I posted on are the only canonical

Chakras; they are the ones used in Tantric Shaktism.

 

I do know that there are some "Western Tantra" and other New Age-type

approaches that have more or less expropriated the idea of Chakras

and re-invented them into something that would be traditionally

unrecognizable. I've seen books on "Cleansing the Chakras" and so on

that -- whatever their therapeutic value might be to those who use

them -- are basically nonsensical in their original context of

Kundalini Yoga. I don't know anything about these approaches, so I

can't be of much assistance in this regard.

 

Might any of our members be able to shed light on this query?
