Guest guest
Greetings I am sharing what I have understood and acquired during my tenure of sadhana. I am not well versed in any scriptures or never read any authentic books. mere contemplation has brought me to you all with the below thanks and regards Aghora’s are the followers or worshipers of Aghora Rudra (form of Lord Shiva). "AGhorithat which is not terrible" name it self conveys that it is not a taboo. Aghori is the mental state of sadhaka. Sadhaka’s supreme devotional state act as seat for Aghora sadhana. The culmination in Adwaita is realisation of Brahman in all. Once the duality ceases to exists all the actions, gestures and mode of communication with the world appears very ghastly. They cognize Absolute in many. Sadhaka here is out of Maya and liberates from all the limitations and merge with cosmic consciousness. In this state of ecstasy worshiper and worshipee are the identical. Separation between Sadhaka and Deity dissolves. Obviously at this outset their upasana or worship appears for people with lower consciousness as a ghastly performance. All prescribed rituals, mode of worshiping etc are not applicable to them. They are beyond our understanding and judgements. Worship themselves, conversation with animals, eating the offerings to the deity are few exhibitions that perplexes the people. Dwelling in cremation grounds, eating human flesh or other similar activities has nothing to do with Aghora. Such are fleeting sadhanas adopted by incipient sadhaka for dispelling discrimination and to achieve equanimity in life. They are not mandatory. We cannot conclude all Aghoris life embraces the above. Medicine apprentices dissect dead bodies, it is only to study the human anatomy and to over come fear, aversion and other mental feebleness. This backing helps them to undertake a noble profession in future turning them into doctors. Indian has witnessed the birth of several great devotes who have attained such lofty pinnacle. Ramakrishan paramahamsa life is an immediate parable for our understanding. In mahabharat epic it is narrated that Vidura a great devotee of Lord Krishna has offered banana peels instead of fruit. Bhakta kannapa has worshiped Lord shiva with great admiration transcending the entire regular customs and formalities. So it Sabari hospitality towards Lord Rama by offering tasted fruits. If we could achieve such a adoration for God and cannot live without God, Yes we too can claim ourselves as Aghoris.
