Guest guest
Best time for Mantra Siddhi why? What is the connection of Mantra Siddhi and the Eclipse? [Member A] There is logic behind it. The thing is during the eclipse time, there will be small insects emerging and these insects are poisonous. So it is safer for people to remain indoors and do fasting. The next is if a person does mantra japa at that it gives the person immense spiritual power. There is also a concept that when eclipse occurs it is either rahu or kethu eating or attacking the sun and the moon. How does moon shine? Moon is a reflection of the sun and when earth comes in between sun and the moon the shadow of the earth falls on either one of them and eclipse occurs. Moon's reflection is termed as a small shining of Devi's face. Devi's face shines and the shining is moon X n. n = any number you can give. So if n=1000000,000000,000000,000000, then the shining of Devi's face is that amount. Scientifically during the eclipse as well as during the tides during new moon and full moon the pull or gravitational pull of the moon will be very high. So during the new moon day or full moon day if you do the japa it gives you the power but on an eclipse day the power or either moon or sun is 100 fold more or 1000 fold more. During the lunar eclipse as well as solar eclipse the japa is to be done standing in the flowing water that is river up to the level the water is up to the chest or breast of the person. Even at that time you can see there is no wind the leaves of the tree is till. You will not get a chance like this especially this one. This eclipse made all the navagrahas in the form of the SEAL OF SOLOMON, which is very auspicious [Nora] Why I asked this question is because I need to know and to understand. Its difficult to just say "Nora during eclipse you do this and they are good for you". I need to know why? This is what I think some will call Practical Hinduism. We should not do things blindly. We must question the rational behind each practice. [Member B] You see during eclipses there is a blockage of ultra violet and other radiations that are normally there in the sky. This gives rise to an opportunity for some bacteria that are normally held in check by these radiations. Hence temples being places where powers are amplified are closed so that the amplified power does not harm. This MAY be the explanation. I am not sure. It is specifically forbidden to eat during Eclipse. At the same time another explanation maybe this is the time to do personal sadhana going to temple is community worship. So to make people sit at home and do sadhana also the temple can be closed. [Nora]: This is what I have come up with based on the information I got on the net. It's more pertaining to the appearance of the Moon during the eclipse. Some ancients called it "the time of the blood of the Great Mother's wisdom", linking the Moon's color with menstruation. The moon is always associated with DEVI. During eclipse of the moon, the moon is still visible in the sky. And because during the eclipse the color of the moon changes to red. Blood=fertility=potency=life. So DEVI is very potent during this short period of time. [Member B] That also is an explanation [Nora] Now we know there are two types of eclipses. Firstly the most current ones: the earth blocks the sun from the moon. Then when the moon blocks the sun from the earth. If this Eclipse is a powerful time for Mantra Siddhi, what about other eclipses; when the moon blocks the sun. [Member A] No the effects are the same. The Sun is more dangerous. because the sun emits a lot of rays harmful for living beings [Nora] I understand when they say its harmful because of the block in the radiation (when the moon blocks the sun from the earth) But this eclipse we just had is when the earth blocks the sun from the moon, where is the blockage? It is the moon that is being block. Where is the logic? So back to my question: Best time for mantra siddhi why? What is the connection of Mantra Siddhi and the Eclipse? [Member C] It sounds like everybody wants to do their own japa rather than performing for somebody else, but I think the amplifier explanation is really good too. I think everything is amplified during eclipse not only the good but also the bad and so perhaps it is an attempt to keep the temple pure. If people there are not being respectful or are joking or thinking ill of others all of this is amplified along with the japa. Guest guest
> fold more. During the lunar eclipse as well as solar eclipse the japa > is to be done standing in the flowing water that is river up to the Thank you Nora for that perspective on the eclipse. It is also known that japa done while standing in water is considerably more beneficial not just during an eclipse alone; even japa done on the banks of a river is highly auspicious. There is a very practical reason for this- rivers are rich in prana(also called orgone energy), practicing deep yogic full breathing in near a river and in a slum, and you will notice the difference in the levels of energy > level the water is up to the chest or breast of the person. We should not do things yes I agree this is the right attitude. Blind faith can be disastrous as can be seen by whats happened in India over centures. But not all things can be fully known by the logical mind, at some point some faith is probably needed. -yogaman
