Guest guest
Namaste, OmPrem ... Thank you for your comments on the "statement of purpose." I really can't disagree with anything you say about siddhis. It's good information that all would do well to heed. My only disagreement would be with your characterization of my position on Shaktism, and your perception that I am touting it as "best." I do not believe that this is true. For example, you ask, "is not the statement that shaktas get siddhis easier and faster an expression of ego?" But the context of my statement was in speaking of "mistaken beliefs" about Shaktism and what it is "supposed to" yield in this popular understanding. You add that, "Most people like to think that their spiritual path is the best, the most efficacious." This is unfortunately true; but it runs rather against the grain of Shakta belief systems. It is a minority religion, even within Hinduism, and most who to it are keenly aware of that. Most know that the path is not especially attractive to or suitable for the vast majority of people; raw statistics bear that out. But here at least, Shaktism, in its various forms, is the primary focus. You correctly observe that, "All that can be said is that Shaktism is the best system for some people because of their karma. For others, other spirtual paths will be most efficacious for them." We agree, and we have tried to send this message very clearly on the Group's front page: Out purpose is to "make information available. Let people take it or leave it, think it is true or false." We tell visitors, "Come here if you like. Don't come if you don't like. Only try to see for yourself. Don't blindly accept what others say." I am certain that my phrasing in the statement caused this misunderstanding, and I apologize for my carelessness. I also thank you for your time and interest in noting these confusing passages, and allowing me an opportunity to clarify my meaning. It is nice to see you back.
