Guest guest
A new year has begun across most of the world now ... yes; I know it is only the "secular" New Year, a convenient world standard that crosses religious and national borders. Of course, we celebrated commencement of the traditional Hindu New Year 2060 with Deepavali back on October 26. But today is the day that most people around the globe collectively flip forward to a fresh new calendar, with 365 (this year 366) fresh days to fill as best as we can. And so I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the members of Shakti Sadhana a happy, healthy and prosperous 2004. Let us celebrate this new beginning as an opportunity to re-commit ourselves to the goals and ideals that we hold dear. Let us not waste a moment on activities that represent a step backward or a tangent away from Devi's path. As Shankaree always closes her lovely posts: Let my every word be a prayer to Thee, Every movement of my hands a ritual gesture to Thee, Every step I take a circumambulation of Thy image, Every morsel I eat a rite of sacrifice to Thee, Every time I lay down a prostration at Thy feet; Every act of personal pleasure and all else that I do, Let it all be a form of worshiping Thee. (From Verse 27 of Shri Aadi Shankara's Saundaryalahari) Aum Maatangyai Namahe
