Guest guest
Om fellow travellers In his Raja Yoga sutras, Patanjali says: Ignorance, egoism, attraction and aversion, and fear of death are the afflictions which cause suffering. (II. iii.) Fear of death is the continuous desire to live which is rooted even in the minds of the wise. (II. ix.) The following excerpt is from 'I Heard the Owl Call My Name' by Margaret Craven (p119): "But when I reach here and see the great scar where the inlet slide shows its bones, for a moment I know." "What, my lord?" "That for me it has always been easier here, where only the fundamentals count, to learn what every man must learn in this world." "And that, my lord?" "Enough of the meaning of life to be ready to die", and the Bishop motioned Mark to start the motor, and they went on. In each life we encounter karma from past actions and, as we become stronger and wiser and softer from living with the uncertainty and losses of life, we come into a deeper understanding of where our true nature and happiness resides. And the attachment to the physical, including our own physical existence, subsides as we open up to a greater joy.
