1. Re: Re: Caste - Rudra Joe's Reply To Mary Ann

Sister Usha's "damn democracy" ignores the ancient republics of India that were

governed by sanghas (assemblies). As for the harmony of the "infinitely

diversified galactic universe" the galaxies keep bumping into one another. Our

galaxy is on course to bump into the Andromeda galaxy. Buddhists are convinced

that Bhagavan Buddha knew "the mind of the Divine", and Jain make similar claims

as to Bhagavan Mahavir. Neither Buddhists nor Jains can accept that the founders

of their respective religions were "fools". The only Maharishi whom Buddhists

recognise is Bhagavan Buddha who of course renounced all political power when he

left His fathers palace. Bhagavan Mahavir made a similar renunciation.

The reversed svastika is called the sauvastika and represents the moon path,

whereas the svastika represents the solar path.

3. Re: Sadhana in India for non-Indians

The European masters spoke of what they called King Sol. A King has everything

under his control, so King Sol or Sun represents a stage of egocentricity that

every disciple must pass through. When King Sol mounts his throne he is lord and

master of his kingdom (oneself), which naturally give rise to a sense of power

and worth. The fault lies not in passing through this stage but in getting stuck

in it.

What does this have to do with what I said? Nothing. I was commenting

on the idea that any one person or any one faith may claim to have

all the wisdom of the universe. To accept such a claim is to close

one's mind to new revelation, and to stop the search for truth

ourselves. And to maintain that a society must be governed by one set

of religious laws is to deny to minorities the right to worship as

they desire.

Remember that any argument that you can make for people of your

religion having the right to impose your beliefs onto others can be

turned around against you. In India, Hindus are a majority, but they

are a minority everywhere else. In the United States, Christians are

a majority, but they are a minority in India and China and many other

countries. We are all members of minorities if one examines the world

as a whole. The only way that any of us can practice our own faith in

peace is for all of us to agree to let everyone else do the same.
