Guest guest
I wonder if anyone in this newgroup would be interested in writing to the Indian government requesting the return of Buddhigaya Vihar to Buddhist Control. In the past a Shivalingam was installed in the Vihar and Hindu marriages were also conducted upon the premises. This was only stopped by a mass demonstration of Indian Buddhists. At present the Five Buddhas are still dressed up as the Pandu brothers, trading takes place upon the domain, and people are charged before entering the Vihar. Hindu gods should never be installed in a Vihar, but a Devalaya may be provided outside the premises, marriages should never be conducted within a Vihar and to do so is a grave insult, and no one must ever be charged money to enter a Vihar or be asked to provide money, although a charity box or bowl may be provided for those wishing to earn merit by donating. As Buddhism spreads accross the globe the daily Hindu depredations against the Buddha Dharma at the Bodhigaya Vihar are bringing Hinduism into ever increasing disrepute. Not only is the Bodhigaya Vihar the most holy place for all Buddhists but in addition Hindus already have so many of their own temples in India so why should they want one that does not belong to them? If this injustice could be righted it would be a great boon not only to Buddhists but also to Hindus because it would end the bad reputation that Hinduism has acquired for stealing the most important Vihar on Earth. If you are a Hindu and are concerned about the good name of your religion please do something now to regain the good name of your religion and stop this scandal and injustice.
