Guest guest
Of course for Hindus Mahalakshmi and Kubera are the deities to propitiate. I had great success with the Mahalakshmi mantra - Om Shrim Klim Mahalakshmiyei Namaha. In addition to material wealth Mahalakshmi brings one to the goal of all aims and pursuits, and as Goddess of Light she also is a Shakti aspect of Brahma the Creator and as such creates new and positive seed karmas. Of greatest interest to me was how during her sadhana I would get interesting new thoughts and desires and acting upon them lead to a new life style. I have no practical knowledge of Kubera mantra but the Mantra Tantra group should have it. Buddhists of course do abhisheka upon an idol of Dzamballa. One needs initiation in Vajrayana to practice. But it's also a way to go. One can't go wrong with Mahalakshmi however. And as Mahapadma Sri Kamala she helps to keep one afloat.

I thought Lakshmi was only the Shakti of Vishnu! Can you elaborate on her relationship with Brahma? > Of greatest interest to me was how during her > sadhana > I would get interesting new thoughts and desires and acting upon > them lead > to a new life style. During monsoon season (autumn), when Vishnu sleeps, Lakshmi travels with Kubera as her escort. As far as I know, Mother Laxmi is parijata, born out of the churning of the ocean; and the Consort of Visnu from day one. Kubera also was never an asura; he is a yaksha or a rakshasa (rakshasas are different from Asuras) depending on which book is referred to. Kubera is half-brother to Ravana. -yogaman > > > ______________ > The best thing to hit the Internet in years - Juno SpeedBand! > Surf the Web up to FIVE TIMES FASTER! > Only $14.95/ month - visit www.juno.com to sign up today! Guest guest
I am a horrible scholar, and can't quote chapter and verse of the Puranas that tell of Lakshmi's and Kubera's origins. But Lakshmi's father was the king of the Milk ocean, and all ocean bottoms are part of the Asuric realm. She chose to rise to the surface at the ocean's churning, because her fellow Asura's ate meat and didn't respect women. There's also a story of how Kubera had a mortal incarnation as Devaraja, a thief who stole the gems from Shiva's murthi -- but waving his lamp before the statue pleased Lord Shankara, and he had the thief reborn as the deva Kubera. -- Len/ Kalipadma On Sun, 01 Feb 2004 19:07:26 -0000 "childofdevi" <childofdevi writes: > > > > During monsoon season (autumn), when Vishnu sleeps, Lakshmi > travels > with > > Kubera as her escort.
