Guest guest
Hello, I understand that the Tantric Lakshimi Bija or beej mantra SHRING can be pronounced as spelled :- SH as in shine. Ring as in ring...shring...shring...shring... Does this mean that the Vedic Lakshimi Bija or beej mantra SHRIM can be pronounced as spelled :- SH as in shine. RiM as in "The Rim of a wheel" or must it be the usual "SHREEM?" Namaste, Peter
Guest guest
shreem sh as sh in shine; ree as in reel; It rhymes with Cream with sh instead of C. The same shreem is written by some as shring and by some as shrim. They are not two different bijas. And it is spronounced as above. Guest guest
Let us stop the argument here (or if you must go on, take it off- board). Both viewpoints are now duly presented; the rest is name- calling. No need to go there. Hokay? Guest guest
I agree. Shring is a corrupted form of shrIM normally heard in North India. Guest guest
ok but where in Tantra or Vedas do u find this "shring"? Which are the mantras with that bIja. I have not seen any!! Whenever I hear people saying this bIja I just sigh. There is no such Bija. Please look up bIjakoshika. If someone corrupts bijas that will not make them real. Please. biosoundbill <biosoundmeditation wrote: , "Satish Arigela" <satisharigela> wrote: > shreem > > sh as sh in shine; ree as in reel; > > It rhymes with Cream with sh instead of C. > > The same shreem is written by some as shring and by some as shrim. > They are not two different bijas. There is just a lakshmi bija, and some authors write it as shring and some as shreem. A friend of mine said that the differeent ways of spelling might be due to north indian and south indian ways of saying shreem. If there are something called vedic bijas different from tantric bijas i would like to know the other vedic bijas for other deities. Are there vedic equavalents for all tantric bijas? Anyone who is familair with vedas will know that vedas do not contain bijaksharas except for some upanishads. And the few bijaksharas I have seen are written the same way in tantric texts. For ex: certain bijaksharas are there in Dakshinamurti upanishad (which is part of veda) and when referring to tantric texts the bijas are spelled the same way. Saying that there exists a vedic bijakshara and a tantric bijakshara for a certain deity and their being different, sounds to me like somebody saying that, there exist 4 Newton's laws of motion as opposed to common knowledge of 3 laws. Hence, this will be my last post on this topic. Is this what is being taught to people(6 million?) practicing TM? Rgds
Guest guest
This is not a place for threats. Just because someone said something or someone misheard the bIja pronounced badly will not make it authoritative. I do not know who your guru is and what your Guru said, or you thought the Guru said may be OK for YOU. But do not force it on others. If you have any authority showing the existence of "shirng" give it. Just because a guru said something or u misheard a guru that will not be general authority. Thats your personal authority. so lets not argue on the alleged 6 million who will be angry. think Hindus are far in excess of 6 million. biosoundbill <biosoundmeditation wrote: , "Satish Arigela" <satisharigela> wrote: > shreem > > sh as sh in shine; ree as in reel; > > It rhymes with Cream with sh instead of C. > > The same shreem is written by some as shring and by some as shrim. Guest guest
My 2c- I have heard from a number of sources on the Tantrokt ending in NG and the Vedokt ending in M; I think that both of these mantras are tantrik beejas and the distintion is made to show that SHREENG is more powerful than SHREEM(there is generally an opinion that tantrik mantras are more powerful than vedic mantras). On another note in his book Tantrik kriya yoga, Sunyavada Saraswati also says that SHREENG is more powerful than SHREEM; it all depends on how the chant is done- with SHREEM the resonance at the end of vocalization is in the cavity of the mouth; but with SHREENG the whole head resonates, the effect of the mantra is amplified. Very few people know how to chant even AUM correctly, so SHREEM,SHREENG are the pretty much the same. -yogaman ps. All of the above views are not necessarily mine, I am just plainly stating what I read; so dont get mad at me :-) , "farmerfarrar02" <peterfarrar02@h...> wrote: > Hello, > > I understand that the Tantric Lakshimi Bija or beej mantra SHRING > can be pronounced as spelled :- SH as in shine. Guest guest
"All I know is it costs a fortune to learn!" Serious! I am just curious. How do you pay : $$ per mantra? Sorry not being sarcastic, just wish to know that is all.
Guest guest
OM Billy You said, "All I know is it costs a fortune to learn" Yes, TM is expensive. That is because it is a pyramid selling scheme. The first talk is free. Everything else has a price tag. For this course, $300.00; for that course $450.00; etc. I have heard an estimate that it costs around $10,000.00 in incremental courses to learn how to do that ridiculous yogic flying. The internet is rife with ex-TMers who complain about the cost. As has been said before, the authentic Guru does not charge for Mantra initiation. My Guru would not even accept flowers when he initiated me into my Mantra but instead asked me to offer the flowers to his Guru. As for Bija Mantras, Swami Vishnudevnanda, in his book, Meditation and Mantras, has this to say: 1. Dum Here Da means Durga, and u means to protect. Nada means Mother of the Universe, and bindu signifies action (worship or prayer). This is the bija Mantra of Durga. 2. Kreem With this Mantra Kalika should be worshipped. Ka is Kali, ra is Brahman, and ee is Mahamaya. Nada is the Mother of the Universe, and bindu is the dispeller of sorrow. 3. Hreem This is the Mantra of Mahamaya or Bhuvaneshwari. Ha means Siva, ra is prakriti, ee means Mahamaya. Nada is the Mother of the Universe, and bindu is the dispeller of sorrow. 4. Shreem This is the Mantra of Maha Lakshmi. Sha is Maha Lakshmi, ra means wealth, ee is satisfaction or contentment. Nada is the manifested Brahman, and bindu means the dispeller of sorrow. 5. Aim This is the bija Mantra of Saraswati. Ai stands for Saraswati, and bindu is the dispeller of sorrow. There is much more, of course, but this enough for this discussion. Guest guest
Oh for goodness sake (rolls eyes). More than twenty years ago at the age of 30 I received a mantra that sounded to me like 'shirring'. I have used it ever since and it still results in a perfectly satisfactory meditation as far as I can tell. This is the first time I have ever tried to find out what it meant or why I was given this particular mantra. I just read somewhere that shrim is for females, shring for males ... well forgive me, but I don't feel short changed to have been given the 'wrong' one and I really question whether it matters exactly how it is pronounced.
