However students present gifts (in their capacity) to their teachers even if they do not ask coz the scriptures say that such great things as mantras or for that matter any education should not be received free." I think this is what they called Guru Dakshina. Even when my daughter starts her dance at the Temple of Fine Arts, we give Guru Dakshina to the teacher which consists of Fruits, Flowers and one dollar. The teacher did not asked for it, but I feel it is the right thing to do and a good way to teach our young about our Asian Tradition.
