Guest guest
Hello All, A friend recently attended a seminar with a woman who advised closing one's 7th chakra down to 5 - 10 percent. The woman claimed that having the 7th chakra open anymore than that left one open to "invasion" from entities, made decision making next to impossible, and could lead to psychosis from experiencing all that is. I question the validity of that information. I've never read anywhere that closing the 7th chakra down is a good idea. In fact, I've always read the opening the 7th chakra is one of the goals of meditation and that the paintings of saints, etc., with the halos are depicting symbolically the openness of the 7th chakra. The woman teaching the workshop was apparently very charismatic, very sure of herself, and my friend seems to believe this gives her credibility. And maybe it does...I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever heard this idea of closing down one's 7th chakra. Guest guest
Renataji, Namaste. The only reason I can think of is if the 7th chakra was more open than a person was ready for, either as the work of someone else, or due to practices of tantra, kundalini yoga, ect. If someone isn't ready to have that door open, I can see how it would be problematic. It's true that one has to aquire certain "phsychic self-defense" tactics when working with higher energies. But at the stage of crown chakra opening, this shouldn't even be an issue. I have heard of people suffering from the ascent of kundalini, but the pain is caused by powerful vibrations- the result of the ego resisting the flames of love. The pain is also in the heart of hearts, as they say in sufism, the longing to become less than dust at His feet, is quite painful, and the poets have always warned man to stay away from the lane of love. The journey back to Oneness is bound to be full of pain, as well as bliss. In her diary, "Daughter of Fire," Irina Tweedie chronicles the ancient training that brought her across the chasm of fire. It's very good reading, although I've been at it for a year and am still only slightly more than half-way through! But she describes the process in exquisite detail. Perhaps the lecturer herself is actually describing a mental state of mind that she is in. Invasion from entities, trouble with descision making, and psychosis seem to reflect a slightly different problem than that of "experiencing all that is." The path through the higher chakras is bound to be perilous, but I feel that advising others to shut down the crown chakra is not the answer, and something most of us are not yet experiencing trouble with. My advice- find a real satguru and surrender everything at his/her feet. The guru knows the way, and can lead you there with certainty. pranams, Brianna --- renata.anastasia wrote: > > > Hello All, > > A friend recently attended a seminar with a woman > who advised closing one's 7th chakra down to 5 - 10 > percent. Guest guest
Makarandji, Namaste. The best psychic self defense is the protection and guidance of a satguru. Faith and surrender to the Beloved will also keep you from harm. There are numerous ideas on this subject. Seemingly every religion has a concept of "evil," and also a host of remedies for avoiding it's clutches. I've been taught several; visualizing a blue flame in a circle around me, "asking" for help from angels, saints, light beings, devas, deities, whatever you feel comforted by. Holy water, herbs, mantras and charms, we've heard of all of these. But still, I strongly believe that the most powerful protection you'll ever have is Divine Love. May you be rich in it.
