Guest guest
Forgive me if this question is too basic for this group. Can someone explain me who is the DIVINE MOTHER ? I read Ramakrishna Parmahansa, Parmahansa Yogananda and many many others talk about HER. But is there a equivalency ? Is she Ma Parvati, Ma Durga, Ma Kali, Ma Laxmi, Ma Saraswati? WHo is she? When we recite the Lalitha Sahasranama, are we praying to our Divine mother? Also, I hear of Yakshini? Can someone create a chart for the Divine Mothers name as referred in Zen Buddhism to the names used in Hinduism? Can we even think of such a chart? 1. Kali 2. Tara 3. Shodasi 4. Bhuvaneshvari 5. Bhairavi 6. Chinnamasta 7. Bagalamukhi 8. Dhumavati 9. Matangi 10. Kamala Thanks for your patience --- Shiva Bhakta http://www.jyotirlinga.com SHIVAUM

Yakshini is a spirit not the Divine Mother. >Can someone create a chart for the Divine Mothers name as referred >in Zen Buddhism to the names used in Hinduism? Can we even think of >such a chart? Guest guest
the words "Divine Mother" is an attempt to put a linguistic label [ just as we put a label called milk on the white fluid that we drink though we could have called it klim ! as well ] on the concept that seeks to describe the cosmological principle that causes the universe [ another linguistic label ] to manifest itself to its own awareness. the divine mother has many names [ or equivalent labels for the same underlying principle ] and associated forms but it may not be worthwhile to list these and compare one with the other. is there any point in comparing and contrasting the various waves that appear on the surface of the ocean ? is there any point in distinguising between the various rays of light that are reflected from the snow clad peaks ... for as vivekananda said, the ocean when it is calm, it is Shiv .. the same ocean when in motion is Shakti [ another label ]... the mighty snow clad peaks are like Shiv, the sunlight glinting off them ... is Shakti. the divine mother [ the divine lover ? the divine feminine ? ] is what results when the valiant mind creates a map or model of THAT [ whateven that may be !!] which causes the universal consciousness to understand [ actually experience ] the pleasure [ another hapless label ]of the unity of the knower & the known, the seeker and the sought, the seer and the seen. that may seem quite a mouthful of a definition ... but there is a simpler way to understand her ... if you have her grace, you would know who she is while the rest of us will be juggling with complex words as i have been in this post :-) , "Shiva Bhakta" <shivabhakta@h...> wrote: > Forgive me if this question is too basic for this group. > > Can someone explain me who is the DIVINE MOTHER ? > I read Ramakrishna Parmahansa, Parmahansa Yogananda and many many others talk about HER. > But is there a equivalency ?
