Guest guest
Greetings Sriram: Cultivate bhakti toward Devi. That is all. Pray to Her a lot. Rely on Her in your daily life. Try not to let Her slip from the forefront of your mind for very long at a time. Read Her stories in scripture. Contemplate Her images, especially those that most appeal to you. Listen to songs and chants in Her praise. When you are ready, She will send the guidance and guru that you need. If you want to learn about Tantra intellectually, information is everywhere. In countless books and all over the Web. Be warned that a lot of it is inaccurate; and that some, though very detailed, is useless to the uninitiated. In general, a very reliable and detailed orientation is provided by the work of Sir John Woodroffe (a/k/a Arthur Avalon), particularly, Principles of Tantra, The Serpent Power, Sakti and Sakta, and The Garland of Letters. Hope that helps DB , SRIRAMA DONGRE <sriramadongre> wrote: > > Hi friends, > > I am interested in practice of Tantra. > > Can any one tell me where do I get guidence or a Guru. > > Thanks > > sriram > > > > > > Search - Find what you're looking for faster. > >

Minor inaccuracies may exist here and there, but overall very good. I dont know about serpent power. It might be a good idea to start with Shakti and Shakta, and then read other books. Guest guest
Most excellent advice I have ever heard and yet so simple. "Cultivate bhakti toward Devi. That is all." , "Devi Bhakta" <devi_bhakta> wrote: > Greetings Sriram: > > Cultivate bhakti toward Devi. That is all. > > Pray to Her a lot. Rely on Her in your daily life. Guest guest
Thanks Satish, for your authoritative endorsement of the Woodroffe recommendations. And thanks Jose for your kind appreciation of the post I left this morning. For what it's worth, I received a very interesting offline IM earlier this morning from an advanced Srividya upasak, whose opinion is always worth taking seriously. The message was: "'Pray to Her a lot. Rely on Her in your daily life. Try not to let Her slip from the forefront of your mind for very long at a time. Read Her stories in scripture. Contemplate Her images, especially those that most appeal to you. Listen to songs and chants in Her praise. When you are ready, She will send the guidance and guru that you need' ... "Who said that? And to whom? Please reflect upon whether the words are yours." Good advice, eh? And so I pass it along ... One way of not letting Her slip from the forefront of our mind, is to make our daily routine a devotion act to HER. Even the act of Cooking for a family can be a spiritual act.
