Pranaam, dear friends and respected elders,

Good thing I didn't delete this mail....it struck to me that I could actually

reply to this question in the words of an enlightened man, lucky enough I was,

to be the first person to have provoked and heard it from him.

There are four stsages to reaching enlightenment; as a gist I can explain it

with my best of capability...

In order to see in the “Gnyaanachakshu” (third eye), one must be able to digest

what he/she sees in the third eye. This is also known as “Gnyaanodaya” (Gnyaana

= knowledge; Udaya = rise; Knowledge rising according to your capacity of

understanding).

To be capable of digesting the knowledge after Gnyaanodaya, one must carry out

the following in the respective orders –

Rituals – praising the Lord; worshipping; offering materialistic things such

as food to God.

Japa – concentrating on the sound produced (Japa mantra).

Ajapajapa – concentrating on gap between sound produced (Japa mantra gaps).

Dhyaana – concentrating on silence. Think of none else apart from silence.

The best way to bring your mind under your control is to let whatever that comes

pass by. If you’re trying to concentrate on silence and some other thought comes

by, let it come, and let it pass by; don’t order it or force it to vanish – this

will make it more complicated to focus.

(Concentration/focus = visual; ??? = mental)

The meaning of Om

Thamasic

Demon-like (non-veg., heartless)

Srushti

Jaagruth (alert)

Rajasic

King-like

Sthithi (situation/position)

Swapna (dream sleep)

Sathvic

Brahmin-like

Laya (merge)

Sushukti (deep sleep – dreamless; undisturbed)

Thuriyaavasthe (continuous awareness)

The Energy that controls everything in the whole Universe is called Brahman

(it is pronounced like Bramhan).

Meaning of Upanayana: Upa = close; Nayana = eye

The difference between bad and wrong –

Bad

Caused with intention

Wrong

Caused due to ignorance

The reason for fear in life is mainly due to competition. The fear maybe that

you might lose in the competition, etc. When competition is not vital in life,

why the struggle? If your struggle is for your living, then it is not

competition. It is your duty. But when you struggle out of your own interest, it

is competition.

A person is pure when he leaves all the materialist desires. He/She is pure when

they feel they no different to one another, i.e., not treating one differently

to match their gender or sexual orientation.

Things one should control and eventually leave, to attain purity, holiness and

be close to God and Godliness –

Fear

Anger

Materialistic desires (incl. Sexual, sexual)

Hatred

Differentiation

Partiality

Cheating

Stealing

Lying

Murdering

Injuring

Mentally upsetting

Impatience

Ignorance

Carelessness

Accusations

Harassments

Competitions

.. . . . . . . . . . And many many more, but these are the basics.

This is certainly much more data than required, but this is the sum up of the

enlightened uncle of mine; his first exposed words. The four ways to achieve

enlightenment were mentioned above...

Hope this much was of any use to your search...

Hare Krishna!

Peace be with you,

Krishnadasi
